Salome was a Form 3 student at Mitundu Secondary School when Fund a Girl Initiative identified her. She aspired to become a Nurse. However, her studies would often get disturbed because her father, who relied on small businesses to feed the family and send all his five children to school, struggled to pay her tuition fees.  As such, she feared she would eventually drop out of school because her tuition was never paid on time. In addition to that, she lacked upkeep money, as well as school materials such as notebooks. FGI managed to find her a sponsor who supported her until she successfully completed her secondary school and passed with 25 points in 2019.

Today (2022), she is studying nursing at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing.
